MY RESPONSIBILITY…
I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating classroom in which to grow emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. It is my desire as an educator to encourage and inspire students to meet their full potential and become strong, smart, kind and confident people who make good choices.
Over the course of the year, my goal is to expose each child to various mediums, techniques, styles and artists while encouraging them to find the artist within. I hope to foster creativity, enhance the child’s visual awareness and improve technical skills in various mediums while meeting objectives of the district’s curriculum.
THEIR SUCCESS IS MY SUCCESS…
I realize that for some students, art comes very naturally. For others, it can be stressful because of what the child perceives as a ‘lack of skills’. It is my hope that every child will walk into and out of my room feeling like a success. In order to try and reach every student, I embrace auditory, visual and kinesthetic techniques during lesson plans keeping in mind that art is not always about the finished product, but more often about the journey!
I embrace the diversity found in classrooms today. I passionately believe that every child deserves a caring and vested educator. I recognize individuality and set aside preconceived expectations. I want to educate my students and teach them everything I know in a way that resonates with them.
I believe that the success of my teaching will be directly reflected by the success of my students. Through observations, student’s execution of assignments, presentations and various age and ability-appropriate assessments, I will measure my level of success as their educator.
A GREAT PLACE TO BE…
As a parent, I know that educators are spending more waking hours with my children than I. As an educator in today’s society, I strive to create an environment that is consistent, reliable, stimulating and that encourages a family-like atmosphere. Educators, administrators and parents are welcome to observe my class at any time.
